Come over to my new blog, and you’ll find me! :)

Decided to hit the gym for the first time in like…3 weeks. I’ve been running and walking in those 3 weeks, but I just never made it to the gym because I always had excuses. I didn’t plan on doing a lot today though, because I want to keep my legs as fresh as possible for the race on Thursday.

Then I forgot my inhaler. Awesome, right? I pushed through my asthma on the elliptical. It didn’t really start acting up until I got off the machine, and when I got to my car, I just realized that I had left it in the car and not forgotten it all together. Whoops!

I’m going to start looking into training plans for swimming and lifting. I honestly have no clue what to do lifting-wise; I know how the machines work, but I don’t know a lot of exercises to do with free weights or have a regiment that I could follow each week to actually see progress. I can’t afford the trainers at my gym, so I guess it’s up to you guys to maybe help a sista out? PLEASE. I also have no clue what to do for swimming, so I’m going to look into beginner’s plans (I found a few before that have you start off twice a week, and then build up from there in time and distance).

Back to fitocracy? Yes please.

I have created a new account so that my fitness blog can be my primary blog.

http://amandagetsfit.tumblr.com/

So, it’s not a new URL or anything, but it’s a whole new blog.

Please go follow me there! I will be updating from here and there for a while, and then within a week or so, I’m just going to stop updating here. I can’t bring myself to delete this blog, because it has brought me so far, so I won’t be doing that. I just won’t be posting here anymore!

Go make my new blog feel special, and follow it! :)

Not to another site, though.

I’m just really tired of not being able to follow people from my fitness blog, along with the fact that people can’t reply to my posts or do anything fun that they can do with a primary blog.

I don’t even really use my personal blog anymore, which is stinky.

So, if I decide to change everything, I will let you know here that I have moved to a new blog, and anyone that actually cares can come over there and follow me :)

I may change this URL, just so I can use the amandagetsfit URL in my new blog.

I’ll keep you updated :)

After this week, I will only be working overnights Friday and Saturday nights. This means I will have more time during the week for the gym and running.

I have decided that after I run the Turkey Trot on Thursday, I will be taking a (small) break from running. I won’t stop running all together, but I would like to concentrate on swimming and strength training for the month of December. Then, in January, I will start training for a 10k in April, and a half-marathon in May. I figure that’s 4 months to train for the 10k, and I will add the half-marathon training onto the end of the 10k training schedule. Sounds easy enough, right?

Tomorrow, I don’t have work or class, so I think that warrants a trip to the gym :-).

I’m excited to be back in business.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me.  I’d never heard a more comforting explanation.  He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”

The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Do I want to treat myself to clothes or a Kindle for my birthday in 3 weeks?

Donald is giving me a set amount of money for my birthday/Xmas gift and I kinda want to use it towards a Kindle. It would be useful for nights like this at work.

Buuuuut. I really want clothes. But then I’m like, what if I buy these clothes and in a couple months, they don’t fit? I just wasted all that money.

Decisions.

The reason I gained 30 pounds four years ago was because I was working overnights and I used to stop and get fast food and unhealthy snacks to take to work with me instead of making a lunch at home.

I’m starting to do that again. I packed a peanut butter sandwich and crackers for my dinner tonight (I need food that doesn’t need refrigerated because I don’t have a fridge or a microwave at work) but I was hungry on the way to work so I stopped at Sheetz for a chicken snack wrap. And while I was there, I proceeded to get two things of diet mountain dew because I just NEEDED pop.

I don’t have the time to work out as much anymore, and I can feel myself gaining weight. I peeked at the scale yesterday….it said 197. Yes, shark week is approaching but I know that it has something to do with me eating badly.

I need to get back on track and start tracking my calories and making my meals. As much as I hate calorie counting, it keeps me on my toes. I know that I’m able to eat about 2000 - 2200 calories a day and maintain, so if I can eat that much and manage some sort of walking each day, I should be okay.

Oh, and I’m cutting back hours at my work. Money is nice, but I can’t keep up 60+ hour work weeks, maintain school, and keep from burning out. I will work at Ridgeview on the weekends and old navy through the week. Hopefully then I will be able to sleep more and get more exercise in.

I’m working overnight tonight. Put nice stuff in my ask to keep me occupied? :)

Not because I haven’t been eating, because I have. I’ve had breakfast, a pretty big lunch, and some snacks in between. But my four hours at Old Navy today were incredibly busy. My pedometer said I walked 6 miles. 6 miles just running around like crazy!

And right now I’m going to sleep until 10pm when I get ready for job #2. Food can wait, I’m beat.

I just want everything to be normal; I wish I didn’t need money this bad.

Off to Old Navy until 2. Then I get to sleep and do whatever until my overnight shift at Ridgeview.
Debating yoga tomorrow morning when I get off work at Ridgeview at 7. My gym has a morning yoga class at 7:45 on Saturdays, and I might be able to make it there in time. But, I work a longer shift at Old Navy tomorrow, so I might not sleep much if I go to yoga. Decisions, decisions.
Have a good day :)
